When I am a teacher, I will use many of the skills I have learned in this class, especially the use of excel spreadsheets. Something that is so important when it comes to teaching elementary school kids (specifically first grade) is being aware of their medical and food needs. However, kids are too typically too young to be aware and responsible for all of these needs themselves. With this being said, I will email all of their parents or guardians individually requesting any food allergies or medical needs that I should be aware of. With the data I will collect for each child, I will create an organized excel spreadsheet to help keep myself organized and informed of each child’s specific needs.
My classmates have written about some great topics this semester! I read through Elizabeth and Ali’s blogs, and I love what I found! On Elizabeth’s blog 8, she talked about how important it is for teachers to be skilled in technology, considering they are the future of technology in education. In Ali’s blog 6, she talked about the tool she got to use at the tech sandbox and why she liked it! The tool was the spilt-screen board, and she loved it because multiple students can interact with it at the same time. Overall, reading my classmates’ blogs is encouraging to read because I get to see how my classmates are enjoying learning new skills as well!
A technology-related skill I would like to learn next is adapting to new software. When I am a teacher one day, the school that I would work for would require me to adapt to new technologies such as computers and smartboards. However, I would like to continue to use and practice with new unfamiliar computer software. Doing this now will allow me to be better prepared for when my occupation requires such knowledge.
