When I am a teacher, I will use many of the skills I have learned in this class, especially the use of excel spreadsheets. Something that is so important when it comes to teaching elementary school kids (specifically first grade) is being aware of their medical and food needs. However, kids are too typically too young to be aware and responsible for all of these needs themselves. With this being said, I will email all of their parents or guardians individually requesting any food allergies or medical needs that I should be aware of. With the data I will collect for each child, I will create an organized excel spreadsheet to help keep myself organized and informed of each child’s specific needs. My classmates have written about some great topics this semester! I read through Elizabeth and Ali’s blogs, and I love what I found! The flipped classroom concept is a relatively new idea. Flipped classroom includes school work both at home and in class. Students watch lessons online and learn them at home, and then go to school and expound upon the online lessons. This allows students to come to school ready to ask questions. Overall, this system seems quite effective and should be implemented into more schools. Open educational resources are learning, teaching, and materials for research that are open to the public. Examples include digital textbooks, online lectures, and virtual homework assignments. The website I found explains OER more in depth, and the link is at the bottom of this page. Overall, open educational resources are great resources to take advantage of, and I will definitely use them in my future classroom.
